The Danes and the Swedes (SUN, Danish Peekays, The Swedish Legion)

Darktide was never only American. A good share of the server played from Scandinavia, and the Danes in particular came as a group. SUN was the Danish guild: Tubby Gold of SUN is the raider in the only early-2000s Ayan Baqur footage that survives, and Daszoeb, who signed his posts Daszoeb_SUN, was on the Darktide board for years. When Daszoeb was asked his guild at the end of 2002 he answered "Danish Peekays", a guild "consisting of danes only so far". The Danes made their home at the lifestone in the Hebian-To Sewers, the underground town GEN and the NWA fought over; a player who lived there was still dating his characters by it in 2011, "since the Danes were there". There were enough of them that in February 2004 a Darktide thread asked whether Seattle-area players outnumbered the Danes, and ran to fifty replies. The Swedes had their own monarchy, The Swedish Legion, listed on Darktide News's monarch pages through 2003, and characters like Ceaseless Swede on the PK Hunter ladder and The Swedish Chef in Al Krieger's tree. Looking back in 2009, one Blood veteran named the swedes and the danes first among Blood's genuinely good fighters, ahead of the #blood-elite crowd. When Darktide thinned out in 2003, the old SUN Danish guild moved as a group to Star Wars Galaxies, on the Bloodfin server.
