The mail that kicked it off...

Some 38th level guy has been msging me about Joining
them.
You can check them out at www.eternalconclave.com
They promise all sorts of good loot, and I believe
them. The level 38 guy that I met showed me axes with blood drinker
6 on them, with coordination self 5 - not only do you get to hit
people, you get to critical a lot.
Not that I am endorsing them. I just told him I
would tell you guys about it because he keeps asking me if I have
put it to a vote yet and showed you guys the web site. I explained
that it would probably be a no - but he wanted me to ask.
There is always a good side to everything. If you
guys want to join, someone else gets to be msged all the time as
the patron. And considering most people in this alliance are my
power level - you don't really have a patron. Since I never find
gifts for you guys of what 40th level patrons can give. This guy
actually kind of bugged me, but we might want to consider joing
some large organization in the future. (He bugged me because he
showed me all kinds of axes, then didn't give me one, but you could
tell he was trying to buy me with them. All this after I didn't
steal his loot while he was away muling and he left 2 bags on the
ground.)
Of course, the downside is that I will no longer
be Monarch, and we will no longer be the Source.
Everything is checks and balences, and don't think
my feelings will be hurt if anyone says - "You know - I wouldn't
mind have a blood drinker 6 bow, and cool direlands armor."
There are days when being part of something big
looks very tempting. There are other days when I cannot imagine
losing out tightly knit organization and own name.
I leave it up to you all to consider.

...and the responses

My vote is to stay the Source. We will get you
there Druss and I think it will be more satisfying to achieve our
own power rather than merge. I admit that Beryl is definitely tempted
by any BD VI bow however!

Hello all,
Well I have chatted with yyrkoon,( I am chatting
with him now in fact) the other monarch, and he seems like a descent
guy. I guess i don't care if we are the Source or not, just as long
as we still all play together. So I am fine with joining, we could
use more resources, but only if we still hunt together.

The Vote from Mizu-No is NO NO NO
If I get a BD V Bow it will be off the body of a fallen enemy that
either I or one of my friends killed. I WILL have cool Direlands
Armor even if it means I have to kill every Drudge out there
We are The Source
I don't want to be part of something bigger
We are something bigger
People are just now starting to tell us we are huge
Druss is power leveling like the XP pimp that he is ::)
Pretty soon he Will be able to provide all the nice stuff.
But remember we do NOT buy people in the source. A token of welcome
or good faith to show that we take care of each other.
You know the best time I had since the direlands run was when Druss
called me out of the blue had me run down to Mayoui to assist in
rescuing a member of The Source who had died 4 times to matty
I love that stuff
The call goes out
Help there are 4 of us here and we cant handle it
Druss dispatches ONE tier 2 Ass beater to solve the problem
Ass beater arrives like freaking super man
Stand toe to toe with enemy and crushes him
Then departs to his own mysterious quests
I love that shit
HAHAHAAH
How many times will I be dispatched to help people in the new organization?
Or will they be dispatched to help us?
If the vote is yes then I will not be joining you
I vote to remain a super hero
I vote no

I vote no...
Sorry but eventually we will get the same loot
and you know what it will be all the more worth it...
I don't want to join a 650+ person group of "give you everything
so you have nothing to work for" people..
Who is this guy I'll explain to him.....

I remember when there were the Silver Daggers trying
to recruit us
We said no then
Why?
And where are the silver daggers now?
We said no because we liked being a SMALL tightly knit organization
We are no longer small but we are still tightly knit
I have been told by several people that we adventure together more
than there groups do we have scheduled outings and adventures
And we are always together
Sometime the dungeons Stink but we still have fun
Like the Whole Shadow dungeon thing
Even my wife was laughing so hard at mutt she had tears coming down
her face
Gryff is trying to talk he patron into swearing to Cronson
Gryff has NEVER heard or seen from his monarch not EVER
What kind of Kingdom is that?
He hears from his patron but never sees him
Gryff has never had an adventure with his own group
He has been on three with us
Hmmm who should swear to who here
We obviously have the better group
They should Swear to US

I must say I will not be joining as well if the
major conCensus is to join them...
I am sorry...

Isn't the policy of The Source to not recruit members
by bribing them with gifts?
And what is this other group trying to say by waving around axes
with BDX etc. on them?
I think that Druss does not want to join, but he
doesn't want to keep an opportunity from us if we want it. And I
don't think he wants us to join either, but he's such a nice guy
that he is not going to hide something like this from us.
Well screw that! Druss is our Monarch, and we'll
stand beside him til we freakin' die. Then we'll run back to our
bodies, get our stuff, and die again before we swear to a different
monarch.
"FREEDOM!!!" in my best Braveheart voice... Or
the freedom to choose Druss as our monarch at least...

Ok, this is how this is going to work....
You can go ahead and join another group, but Joshua
I is not going under any circumstances. I signed on to serve Druss
and Druss alone. If the group wants to go and join this other group
because they have some fancy jewelery, then thats fine with me,
but I will not be simply know as one of the many exp whores in a
large group that disregards members. In the event that Druss is
not longer my patron I will do what I origonally planned, get a
nice high level then make it to the PK alter in the dires and then
proceed to kill every red dot I see. If they have decent stuff I'll
take it, but mostly it'll just be random.

I too must cast my vote for remaining The Source,
unswayed by the temptations of other groups.
I mean if we'll sell our allegiance for a few items,
why not just go on eBay and buy the stuff? Then at least your being
honest about your need to be powerful and what you're willing to
do to get it. The enjoyment we get from this game comes from the
fact that we can share our experiences with other people. Single-player
CRPGs were never like this because there is nothing social about
it. We are social beings--we need people. The most important thing
about this game to me is being able to share it with people I like,
people I respect, people I can enjoy talking to.
Don't give in Jamie. Your loyal subjects want you
as our monarch, as our spokesperson. We would have it no other way.

OK- there are A LOT of responses to this. :)
I have yet to read them, but I think I know what
they say.
Jamie, you are a leader. Natural born. 100%. People
follow you because they want to. Because they believe in you. Because
you care, are trustworthy, and are loyal in return.
People love you for your innocence, and your belief
in the human heart. We love your laugh, your cheerfulness, the way
you shake off adversity to rise again.
We do not follow you for cool loot. We do not follow
you for lack of something better. We do not stay with the Source
because we are hoping to get goodies. The goodies are in the teamwork,
the camraderie, and the being PART of something exciting and wonderful.
We are a close-knit team, many of us close enough
to almost be family. That is a rare and special thing.
I do not think any of us would care to throw it
away.

...and Druss has the final word
|
Well, it looks like a large enough contingent has
responded, the answer is, of course, no.
Someone said it looked like I wanted to join, but
in fact, Dave (Hakeem) was closest. I do not wish to join anyone.
I was just trying to be fair to all of you. I like the Source, I
love all our friends, and from what I have seen - we have something
very special here. People may not join us because we don't have
a fancy web site (yet) or give out Blood drinker 6 weapons (yet)
and other dumb things. But those aren't the people we want in the
source anyway.
You will be hard pressed to find any alliance anywhere
where the group is so tight nit and fanatical about staying solo.
You could not find another alliance in all the 7 servers that is
so loyal to each other and the Source. We have a great group here
- and a really special alliance. As you all wrote so well.
Thank you all.
