China is building their infrastructure for the future.

Power capacity: 18,000 megawatts
Reservoir: 660km long, submerging 632 sq km of land. When fully flooded, water will be 175m above sea level
Navigation: Two-way lock system became operational in 2004. One-step ship elevator due to open in 2009.

We have more money, why aren't we doing something like this for our country? Sure we don't have any rivers to block up but we have other things we could do that would help the country prepare for the future. Government should be laying down the infrastructure for the future.

I say we get put the money into wind turbine farms in the middle of nowhere, let them produce our hydrogen directly, and then ship the hydrogen around the country as if it were normal gas. Does our government have the balls to do something actually constructive for our future though?

our politicians are more concerned about the golfing trips to scotland and other junkets. they have all their buddies at Halliburton to think about too. then they have those astronomical fees to their exclusive country clubs to pay as well. where do you think they can find the time to worry about America? and john mccain is issuing a call to arms to the latino community. i guess he wants them to rise up against the american middle class or something. francine busby is telling illegals they dont need papers to participate in fund-raising and volunteer work for her run for office. i hope that little mis-statement by her costs her the election. you just got to love our politicians. has there ever been a more venal group of people in history? how much more are we going to take?

The roman empire comes to mind. Oh and not to mention European royalty.
