I picked it up not that long ago, when it dropped to $30. Right when I started playing it, it was far more exciting than anything I got to in Doom III. After playing it once or twice, I dropped it for a while, but I have since played it a few more times in the last week or two. It kept getting better and better, but then, it suddenly ended. I was actually enjoying it, a game made after like 1999, but now I am disappointed.
And the "ending" clearly states that there is more to it, but there hasn't been an expansion or anything.

Ok, so it seems that Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is basically going to be what I thought this game would have and easily could have been. Oh well, at least it's coming.
And here's something you probably won't believe. Last night, I was playing online, and this guy appeared out of nowhere right in front of me. I got him in my sights, and low and behold, the unmistakable title of "Chuck Norris" appeared. Before I even had time to comprehend what I was looking at, I simply exploded, and became nothing more than a splatter mark on the ground, for no apparent reason. For looking at him, he must have roundhoused me so fast I couldn't even see it. The part you really won't believe is that I found him later on, and killed him myself. I am far more powerful than I knew. Don't mess with me. _________________ Much <=3 for Blade and Zojak, and Fueled, too!

I can't imagine that the CPU would really factor in that much. It's more of a graphics card issue. I don't think my CPU is 2 gHz, and my video card is a 6600GT, but it played just fine on medium graphics on the net. _________________ Much <=3 for Blade and Zojak, and Fueled, too!

| hmm, I have a 1Ghz CPU, an ATI 9800xt 128mb vid card, 512mb of PC133 SDRAM running on a XP OS. Can't get past the first splash screen. might be the amt of RAM I guess or that fact that it is not dual channel? |

I think it will only run if your cpu supports sse(or it might be sse2), so if you have an older cpu that does not support these theres nothing that will make it work. _________________

Yeah, there, I'd say you are in trouble. Even on the low quality setting, the graphics still look really good. It is a very resource-intensive game, which kind of sucks, but this is one case where the graphics really help the game, as the experience of being alone in a dark, nightmarish world is important to the gameplay. _________________ Much <=3 for Blade and Zojak, and Fueled, too!

I've been caught!
Haha you said you were getting tired of it or something, and then I noticed that they lowered the price on Quake when I was buying a CD. CoD2 is STILL $50, and it only came out a week after Quake. _________________ Much <=3 for Blade and Zojak, and Fueled, too!

Call of Duty.
The multiplayer is surely better. Quake 4 is fun, but it's too much fast paced run and gun insanity. And aside from the Dark Matter Gun, instead of the Quake 3 BFG, it's also literally no different from Quake 3, and several of the levels I have played on were actually from Quake 3.
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is going to be badass, though. There are TONS of vehicles, some of them gigantic, which can all be operated by one or several people, HUGE levels, which can hold a very large amount of people, multiple classes to play as that have their own weapons and abilities, and the Strogg guys can stick dead humans with a needle and turn them into Stroggs.
Here are a bunch of videos:
