How to Make a Tank (part 2)
by Miko K-sun (2/4/00)

How to Make a Tank: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3

or the continuing life of Balch.....

Side Note

when I was mentioning weapons in my tank article I mentioned the skill credits need to specialize in bow & crossbow. This was a mistake, the numbers were correct, I should not have mentioned Bow/crossbow in my article. The article was not about them and you must begin an archer/cross bower with 100 coordination..

End Note

So when we last left Balch he was ready to go... So what happened to him...

He got deleted!!!
Why you say
Well I think the dagger sucked..
He got remade as Ck using the same stats and swords this time.. This seemed better anyway cause of the challenge to make somebody who had to wait for his arcane lore.

so Ck

Strength 85
Endurance 70
Coordination 90
Quickness 65
Focus 10
Self 10

I then take him to visit big brother Miko for some toys to play with... Out hunting I go for some raw stats... 30 min later Ck is level 3. Were did I spend my xp you ask. I bought 2 points of strength, endurance, coordination, and quickness. these are also the spots that I will spend his xp over the next 2 or 3 levels. At that time I can think about spending them on stamina, health, and magic d. Where will I never spend 1 point of xp: healing, melee d, and sword. Why you ask, because they get used all the time and go up just fine. Why waste good xp.
The long term of Ck is he will train in Item Enchantment and level 9 and arcane lore at level 16.
Let's jump to a bigger character... Miko K-sun, level 27 where has he spent his xp over the months? He also has never wasted (and I say wasted because I mean it) an xp on healing, melee d or unarmed. Why is this a waste you ask? Well his healing is 130 unarmed 205 and melee d 180 by using them and spend xp on the stats that raise them. If you use something non stop there is no need to spend your precious xp in them. What has he spent xp on? He focuses as much xp as he can on his prime 4 stats (strength, endurance, coordination, & quickness) but he doesn't stop there. He has spend enough xp on magic d to raise it to 100, arcane lore to 110, missile d he jumped 15 points around level 15 to help with hunting lugians. You can see he has spent xp all over the place. How does he decided what to spend on?
NEED AND COST!!!!
what do you need??? is it life or maybe mana? well what is the cheapest way to get it? 1 health cost 8k for you, 1 stamina cost 5k, 1 endurance cost 5k.... where do I spend. If I buy 1 health and 1 stamina I have spent 13k. If I buy 2 endurance I have spent 10k and gotten an extra stamina out of the package. check out what a stat is made up of.. i.e. arcane lore is focus/3, so is it cheaper to buy 3 focus or 1 arcane lore. That is how you work that out. what do I need is determined as I go. Hunting lugians I needed a little better missile defense, but while hunting golems it's magic defense. Just got a armor III ring with difficulty 95 and my arcane lore is 92, well then I need 3 more arcane to use it if I wish. My spells are fizzling I guess I need some more Item enchantment. etc....
Next we will discuss damage types and what race to make you character ( I need some raw research so maybe by monday I will have it done). Some of the character races are simple, sho/unarmed, gharu'ndim/staff, & aluvian/dagger, but some are not so easy. A good example is: do you know that a sho swordsman with the same stats as an aluvian one is twice as good and always will be? I will explain all of this in my next article
