How to Make a Tank: Part

OK, Ck is level 7 and can't kill a Banderling Guard....
he got vitae for his attempt :)
|
|
Oh and Hunter Shreth, Adult Reedshark, Veteran
Reedshark & Outcast Monouga at once. He can't kill everything that
he would like to. At level 7 he does mangle Blood Shreth and Banderling
Scouts. Wanted to try a Bandering Raider, but could never separate
one from a Guard. Never let vitae get over 5%. Worked it off each
time before trying a bigger creature. Except the veteran shark,
he spawn next to me, bang lifestone here I come.

First point..... knowing damage.... There are seven
types in case you were not certain.
elemental (4)
fire
cold
electric
acid
non elemental (3)
slashing
piercing
bludgeoning
|
| It is good if your character can do all seven types.
that does not mean carry seven weapons but it help to be able to do
all of them. |
| Know your weapons..... an archer can do all seven
with different types of arrows. |
|
A swordsan can only do six with his weapons. A
sword does slashing/ piercing, so he can't do bludgeoning. What
can you do about this? The only answer I have found when starting
out is to not make him aluvian. If he is Sho he is trained in unarmed
and Gharu'ndim he is trained in staff. If you chose Sho, as I did
with Ck, when you meet something that bludgeoning is best on, then
you can go unarmed on him and just punch. No weapons to carry your
gloves do just fine. If you chose Gharu'ndim, just carry a good
staff.
|
| So you can chose your race by the damage that the
trained weapon gives you if your primary weapons don't cover it all.
I think an axe does slashing/bludgeon, but not sure. Aluvians are
trained in dagger which will do piercing, so that would be the way
that I would go. |
| The most interesting one that I have been looking
at is Gharu'ndim staff fighters. The staff does bludgeoning only I
think. It only make since to make your staff fighter Gharu'ndim, but
he can only do five types of damage. No slashing or piercing. Any
ideas on a good starting plan for this guy. I hate to train in extra
weapons after you get the bonus of having it trained, so you can get
all the good stuff right from the start. |
| Knowing your opponent when going into battle also
helps with the damage. Two hunts that are being talked about are an
olthoi and one that has Monouga and Tuskers. Olthoi hate bludgeoning
damage followed by piercing a close second. This is important to know
as you prepare. Can you do the right kind of damage and is your skill
good enough at it. A sho swordsman trying to us his unarmed of skill
100 on an olthoi is asking to die. Now the interesting one is tuskers
and monouga together. Monouga hate cold and slashing, are strong on
fire and bludgeoning. Tuskers hate fire and bludgeoning, but are strong
on cold and slashing. For a hunt like this you need to be prepare
with several kinds of damage as one will not get it done. If the hunt
was olthoi and tuskers, then you would not worry about elemental weapons
and go with a bludgeoning one for the hunt. |
| just some notes |
| By the way if people want to it would not hurt to
discuss the articles that I have written. They are from my view point
and others may have even better points to make. |
