to conclusions, or jump on the latest fad of whining.

doubting you. Just that I want to understand.

> How come I don't see you casting drain health here? Or anything
for that matter?
By the time I had turned, gone into combat mode, and hit the drain
key, I was in the purple tunnel. It was over that fast.
>
> If two guys jumped you unbuffed, with regular bd3 or 4 weapons,
your death would be faster than this.
>
True. But that would be my fault for not being buffed. And if I
were buffed, that doesn't mean that I could necessarily kill the
melee.
> If you wear a matty coat and reedshark leggings, how does
that make you weaker to so many more things? And no matter what
those things are, do you really care? The main enemy is PK's.
>
I've already ditched my robe, and gone with a Matty Coat, and leather
leggings of AL 41 or so. Weak, but hopefully better vs. these ridiculous
weapons.
> You have often said how sick it is that mages at level one
and two can kill matties. And then a lot of mages go out to teth
at level 10 or 15 and kill stuff to level. When you say it makes
you weaker to wear reedshark and matty, does that mean that now
you don't have a robe, maybe you have to fight things more appropriate
to your level?
>
True. And I do think mages are more powerful as far as killing creatures
than melee. I've always had a hard time killing melee people of
equal or higher level in the game, if they knew what they were doing.
If they sit there and keep attacking, yes, I kill them. But most
melee are faster than me. They never really had to die, and many
of them did not.

I know. I shouldn't have even made the post to the board. It was
late, and I was extremely pissed about getting killed so easily
and not having a chance to get away. I think that balance was needed,
but this isn't the way I would have gone. I don't know if things
will be as bad now that I'm wearing armor instead of a robe. The
really bad part is that now even if I wanted to get something like
Shadow Armor, I can't because it's gone. Or at least I think it
is. We'll see how things go now that I'm wearing armor I suppose.
> They attacked, I turned to attack one guy, hit him once, noticed
I was already too low to heal, and then I was dead.
>
> We're all in the same boat. Sometimes, two guys jump you and
you die. Listing all the armor buffs you had on means nothing. Its
like me saying "I was wearing Lightning Pro VI and these new
acid weapons cut through me like nothing."
>
> Yes, you do have to adapt. Yes, everything has changed. The
real question is HOW MUCH?
>
> You were standing in town, in a buffed up robe, and you were
killed by hollow weapons.
>
> Why does this surprise you?
>
> Thats exactly what they were designed to do.
>
I just didn't feel that robes were the problem. Spells like Drain
Health were the problem. Things like the fact that Armor and Shields
do nothing against War magic were the problem. It's like MtG. I
feel like they just put Time Spiral, Windfall and Stroke of Genius
in the game. I feel like they just sped the environment up too much
by making the change _this_ way instead of fixing the real problems.
I'll adapt. I already have. I just do not like having to spend extra
XP on things like Strength because they decided to make robes useless.
