Super Lightning Axe and the Crash of 2000
February 14, 2000

Before I forget

Rhodry is in the lead for Quest Items.

On saturday Morning Rhodry presented me with

Bandeling Scalp
Ash Gromnie Tooth
Ash Gromnie Hide
Great Mattekar Hide

WOW

he's going after braneths staff next -

onward
I'm standing in the middle of the plains around Fort Teth. I think I was healing myself and then I froze. My conection went green, yellow, yellow red and then got the "Connection to server has been reset" and I was back at the first sign on screen. I click on He-who-must-not-be-named, and connot get in. Go all the way out - cannot get in.
Mare and others continue to play, and I hear their adventures through rogert wilco.
I shut down and restart. Dave (cyblade) can also not get in. Doria cannot get in.
Go play on Darktide until that crashes too.
Sign back on about 8:15 with everyone else and find that I ams standing at the lifestone, 5% vitae, have lost two very good axes, and one which was not my best axe, but was my favorite axe.

the reason it is (WAS!!) my favorite is because it burns ZERO mana. No spells on it, never uses a charge, no arcane lore requirements.

Super Lightning Axe - Base Damage 9-18!!!!

plus - as if this wasn't enough - it had a natural +7 to attack skill. This is like Heart Seeker 5 that uses no mana.

for those who do not know - axes generally do 5-10 and maybe 6-12 for a really good one. One that is 9-18 base damage is just amazing.
So, I could just leave this equipped all the time, and it never cost me a dime. A wonderful wonderful axe. I miss it already.
The other axe I lost was one i had bought JUST the day before. Gar id'd it for me in Mayoi, and it was a 6-13 flame axe +7 to attack skill.
To give you an idea of how rare these things are - in all my time of playing, and all my time of looking, these are the only two axes I have ever found that had a natural +7 to attack skill. The fact that they both had great and huge base damage - makes the loss especially frustrating. And the fact this was the first time I had ever lost both axes on death - was also amazingly unlucky. I usually lose the amazing lightning axe, and a helmet, or a sheild. I had never lost the flame axe before in death.
oh well, its a game about Goals, and finding stuff, so, I'll just keep looking.
But, if you do happen to find NON-magical axes that have nice bonuses like this, please pick them up.
My collection of magic axes must be second to none right now. When the source heard I had lost two good axes, people came out of the woodwork to give me axes. Thank you all. I now have axes that I can use for every level of arcane lore and axe skill requirement. So, as I go up in level, I keep getting to use different and more powerful axes for each five points of arcane lore I get.
thank you.
On that note - while I appreciate it highly - I cannot believe that there ARE any better axes out there than the ones that I have. So do not buy me any more. Please. Your kindness has been overwhelming. I feel guilty now when people present me with the next super axe they just paid 10k for and I don't have the heart to tell them I already have better.
If you find any non magic axes with good melee and attack skill bonuses, I have NONE of those right now.

And for point of reference, the axe I have that I should be able to use by this weekend, is

7-14 base damage
+2 to Melee Defense
Blood Drinker 5
Coordination Self 5
Heart Seeker 5

I have two things I am using right now - a Hammer from gar with

Coordinartion Self 3, Blood Drinker 3

and an axe from Miko and Simone that is

Blood Drinker 4, Heart Seeker 2

(if I remember correctly)

but arcane lore and axe skill both neeed about ten more points and I can use the axe I mentioned earlier.
Thanks to all for the wonderful gifts.

later

Jamie
