| I need to thank the Valiant and Honorable Warriors, Archers, and
Mages that helped my wife and I last night in Stonehold on Harvetsgain.
For those who do not know, Harvestgain went down after the patch.
|
| My wife (The lovely Lady Blue Sister C) dies on one of the lower
levels of the Stonehold Monounga Pit. As she dies, we get the wonderful
and thoughtful message "Harvestgain will be shut down in twenty minutes
- get your corpses NOW." |
| "Marilyn, RUN!" I tell her. She is now 5 clicks away from the dungeon,
with no chest armor, having lost her Blue Cuirass that she has owned
for about two weeks. So, of course, thanks to the new patch, tuskers
are smashing her for 75 points gliding behind her, and she can't make
it back to the dungeon very fast because she has to keep stopping
and healing. |
| At this point, she is getting frantic. Her armor is her most prized
possession, and makes her character look so good, people stop and
admire her in the street. Literally. You can seen people run by, stop,
turn, and gaze at her for a moment before running on. |
| Well, with the twenty minute warning, the dungeon is getting empty.
Which means the respawn is starting to get overwhelming in the dungeon,
because no one is killing Wild, Crude, and Rough Monoungas. |
| Well, she is able to get to the middle of the dungeon, and then
gets overwhelmed and dies. I am keeping her body clear, but as soon
as she dies, I work my way down to the exit portal, jump out, and
start gathering support. |
| "Can you help us. My wife's body is on the lower levels, not in
the Revenant room, but low. We need body recovery now." |
| I keep repeating this to everyone I meet. |
| Everyone I meet surges to the rescue. Warriors and archers start
to clear a path down the level upon level of towering, bellowing giants
that seek to overwhelm us. The clock is ticking, and yet still we
press on. Many need healing and Stamina and Sister C valiantly tries
to keep track of them all, healing and replenishing as best she can.
Armorless, the valiant defenders of the lovely Sister C struggle to
keep her safe from the murderous monsters. We press onward, the respawn
starting behind us. |
| How are we going to get out? |
| It doesn't matter, press onward. |
| We finally get to the room where one of her bodies is, and twenty
monoungas surge forward, blood and death in their eyes. |
| Overwhelmed and outnumbered, the Valiant defenders of Sister C crash
forward into the wave of Monoungas. |
| Not a one of them ran. |
| I watch as my health and stamina are quickly depleted, then a large
wooden club bashes me senseless, and I am back at the Lifestone. |
| Next to me, the valient defenders of Sister C appear, one after
another, armorless and weaponless, striped of their most precious
possessions. |
| "I am sooo sorry" I say to them. |
| "Well crap," one of them says. |
| "Oh well, it happens," someone else says. |
| "Thanks so much for trying. Thank you so much." |
| Then the world goes dark. |
| When the world finally comes alive again, I log in and am told that
all our corpses are still there. |
| Sister C and I are able to go in and recover everything we lost,
but I don't think others were as lucky. |
| Al-lee was looting corpses and doing his best to record who each
item belonged to, and upon seeing Sister C, gave her back a bunch
of items. He may have something of yours, but I wouldn't count on
it. |
| TO THE VALIENT DEFENDERS OF SISTER C - I salute you. I cannot thank
you enough for your valor, honor, and help in a tough situation, and
I am sorry that so many of you died trying to help us. |
| I salute you. You have our thanks. I am sorry I did not get any
names in the chaos, but I was in a near panic trying to help my wife.
