| As usual, let me preface this by saying that I LOVE AC and I like
to think that I write some well reasoned things about it. |
| Today will not be one of those posts. |
| For one things, there are some things still pissing me off, and
there are some others that I just need to touch on that are good.
|
| 1. The Lag. |
| I don't believe you. I don't CARE what you say about the internet.
I don't care what you say about how traffic works. I don't care about
all the little diagnostics you do. I just do not buy it. Much like
I do not accept the current Superman (except as written by Grant Morrison
in the current JLA), I do not accept that more servers would not help.
|
| Know what? |
| I played this game in the first week it hit the shelves. I played
it for months after that. At peak times - the lag was no where near
as bad as it is these days on Sunday morning at 4:30 am. |
| My theory (call me crazy!!) is that there were a lot less people
on the servers. |
| I don't really care what you say. In my opinion, more servers WILL
reduce lag, and nothing you can say will convince me otherwise. Turbine
and MS, I'm sorry, but it reflects badly on you to have this much
HORRIBLE lag in your game. |
| 2. Tusker loot still sucks. |
| Look - how many times do I have to say it? High level monsters should
give high level loot. They're not. It blows. Its stupid. It detracts
from the gaming experience. I've been bitching about this for months
now, nothing gets done, we keep hearing it is fixed, its not, the
loot on some high level monsters is ass, give us a break -please.
Good lord why is this so hard to understand and to fix? This is a
real problem with your game, and I am begining to get the impression
you just don't give a crap about this issue. |
| 3. Speaking of issues you don't give a crap about - the Sticky Patch.
Please remove it. I hate this thing more every day. Do you know who
this nerfs more than anyone? The Warriors. Already the whipping boys
of this game, this patch just makes us suck more. |
| For example. Hunting Umbris last night. |
| Me, My Lovely Bride the Archer, and Deao the mage. Deao Vulns one,
some things attack, my lovely bride shoots, some things die. I swing
my mighty axe once.... |
| You know whats comeing don't you? |
| I get dragged all over hell and creation BACK to the center of the
SPAWN into all the things that we were trying to avoid. Tuskers and
Virindi start blasting me as I frantically press escape and tilde
and bang on my keyboard in impotent frustration. |
| I break free. |
| Now what I do I do? |
| I run AWAY. |
| What happens then? |
| I drag horrible things back to the rest of my party and we all flee.
|
| All thanks to the Sticky Patch. |
| After three instanes of this, I decide it would be better to sit
on my ass and WATCH the archers and mages kill things. |
| I am assuming the sticky patch is in there for one reason. PVP combat.
Because it allows unarmed and dagger fighters to stick to the ass
of people they are chasing, and levels the field for them. |
| Hey... |
| Haven't you always said that PVP is lowest on your list of priorities?
|
| Prove it. The Sticky Patch BLOWS!! As a 44th level axe warrior,
I hate this damn thing more and more every day. Every stinking day
I find another reason to hate this poorly programmed, poorly thought
out, horrible looking banderling skating behind me - BUG!!! |
| Please - FOR THE LOVE OF GOD REMOVE IT!! |
| I'm never going to stop lobbying for its removal, so you might as
well do it now. |
| 4. Magic. I really do think the classes are pretty balenced, but
it bugs the crap out of me when people ask me "Do you have item?"
and I say "no" and they do this little gasp thing and apologize -
like I'm playing a defective guy or something!!! |
| I had a level 53 guy tell me I should start over since I don't have
item. Umm, I'm a level 44 Alliance Monarch with 100 followers. (none
of them mules I might add) I'm not starting over. |
| Is it so much to ask that I wanna play a WARRIOR and not carry some
dinky wand? |
| How the hell am I supposed to ROLE PLAY Druss or Tarl Cabot or Conan
or Barak when in order to be effective I need to use magic? |
| Would Conan ever use a magic wand to buff his sword? NO! |
| Would Druss ever carry a saphire wand and comps? |
| NO! |
| Would Tarl Cabot have a pouch full of herbs and scarabs? |
| No way in the nine hells! |
| For those of you who think "Then you make Item Magic useles?" How
about for the Portal Spells and the Imps? How about Item doesn't make
you better than everyone else but just helps you? |
| Is it so much to ask that I want to play this game without carrying
a little stick with me? |
| And for those of you who reply that june brings a Spec. fix, thats
not going to cut it. A lot of people spec. their main weapon and still
have Item Magic. i.e. Warriors with Item are still going to be FARRRR
better than warriors without. |
| Sadly, I do not have a fix. But it is a valid complaint when people
look at me like I'm an idiot for not carrying a wand. |
| The Silifi of Crimson Stars quest is Broken. Its been 48 hours in
game time since I sold mine to make a better one, and I still can't
pick up the broken haft. It gives me the message "you have completed
this quest too many times." |
| If this was going to be a ONE TIME quest, then someone should have
told me. There is no other quest in the game that is one time only.
You can sell your SOLL and get another one, you should be able to
sell your SOCS. |
| And if you can't, then a little warning would have been nice. Something
along the lines of "Hi, this is the only quest in the game we have
ever made that you can only do once. Are you sure you want to sell
your Silifi of Crimson Stars?" |
| Because I would have picked - "NO!!" |
| Hopefully, this is just a bug. Please fix it. |
| And finally, more eveidence that the classes are balenced - or,
well broken. You decide. |
| True Story number one. I swear this is true. |
| There are three alliance monarchs ranging in level from 43-53 in
the Noble room in the LOD. They are all warriors. There are also 5
other Warriors of various levels from 30-50 in the Noble room. |
| There is also one level 30 Archer. (not my wife, she is level 34
now) |
| The Noble spawns and an army of Warriors attack it. Oh, and one
level 30 archer. |
| Guess who got the Loot rights on the Noble? |
| Not a trick question, it was the level 30 Archer. |
| Are the classes Balenced? You decide. |
| And now to completley confuse you... |
| Scenario number two... |
| True Story - I swear to god.... |
| Lrd Galen Fox is in the Olthoi Lair on Saturday late morning/early
afternoon. He is (I think) a level 49-50 Alliance Monarch with something
like 250-350 followers. A lot more than me, let's put it that way.
I also know he is 5 or more levels higher than me as well. He is an
Archer with a 112% Yumi. |
| I come running down the hallway and here is Lrd Galen Fox. I have
never met the man, but some of my friends have dealings with him and
say he is a very nice guy. He is ahead of me, and I see an Olthoi
attack him. |
| "This should be fast," I think to myself. Thinking that Lrd Galen
Fox will wreck this thing and I will have a front row seat. |
|
I hear...
(in rapid succession)
CRUNCH
CRUNCH
CRUNCH
|
| And Lord Fox is a pile on the floor. |
| Wow |
| I message Lord Fox and we start to Chat. As it turns out, Lord Fox
has 8% Vitae from the Black Death Catacombs and came here to work
it off. |
| Now he has 13% Vitae. |
| I offer to tank for him for a bit, and let him work off some vitae.
He thanks me and we start a long winding run. |
| I run ahead through the tunnels so everything focuses on me, and
then he kills it, lessening his Vitae of course. This works great
for about a half an hour. We run up to the top to get my wife and
she also helps clean Olthoi off my back as they gather there. |
| Not a Brag - a fact. A shield makes all the Difference in the world.
I can stand (back against a wall) , not in combat mode, and have 3
workers and a soldier on me, and Lord Fox and my wife can kill them
before I even take 40 damage. The second I unequipe my imp 5 sheild,
I take crits of 70 damage a pop. I would be dead before the first
worker was killed in a mob like that. |
| So we do this for a bit. Proably an hour I would guess. We are running
down the Long hallway and I ask Lord Fox how his vitae is. |
| He says 4%. |
| Sweet. We are getting there. |
| Just then, a Worker spawns right behind Lord Fox. I am too far ahead
for it to be focused on me. |
CRUNCH
CRUNCH |
| Lord Fox turns and starts firing arrows and so does my wife. I rush
in, equiping my Hammer of Olthoi Smashing Goodness. |
| But not before there is a sickening... |
| CRUNCH!!! |
| And Lord Fox is back at the lifestone and 9% Vitae. |
| <sigh> |
| Now you tell me... Are the classes balanced? |
| You decide. |
