When you first come to DT, generally, it takes some getting used to. You
hate the guys that kill you. Some ask "WTF?" Some curse and swear. Some quit
and never come back.

If you stay, you start to realize that its just a game. That some people are
role playing RPK's (random PK's) and that they just play, just to kill other
players. And if one of them kill you, the wrong thing to do is message them
and say "WTF??" Because they will just laugh. At the worst, you will make
them feel bad, and thats not worth it, because, hey, it is just a game. You
shouldn't make people feel bad. If they kill you, and you feel bad, well,
there are 6 other worlds they can go play on if they feel bad.

So, you come to accept what DT is all about, and you come to accept that
sometimes, well, people are going to kill you. For no reason. No big deal.
You level, you get big, you start to hunt people yourself.

You are at peace.

You can even message people after a fight and say "Nice Fight." (The Silent
Spearman encourages this. No one under him is allowed to be a whiner or a
punk.)

You don't mind losing stuff because you come to realize that everything on
DT is transitory. Thats one of the things that I like about it.

So, if you are smart, by this time, you have chosen a side.

A good or an evil side.

I chose a good side. An anti Side. I don't Random PK, I try to help people
from Random Pkers. I hunt down people pledged to an evil monarch. A PK
monarch.

None of it do I take personal. If someone messages me asking "WTF!?!?!" I
explain that they are under a PK guild and I am Anti. You are feeding XP to
the "Wrong" side. You are the enemy.

I don't think that people who RPK in the game are really bastards in real
life. I don't think they are really evil people in real life. I think that
they are just playing a game and having fun. They chose the other side.

Cool. Without them, I'd have nothing to do.

When I get Random PK'ed by someone 30 levels higher than me, I don't taunt
them with how proud they must be, or whatever. I collect my vitae and slough
off to go work it off.

Its just a game, you choose sides and you have fun. Thats the level I am at
now.

So anyway, other than people who say they are "Anti" when its convenient for
them, I have no beef with anyone on DT. Even the guys who have killed me
multiple times.

I'd like to think I "get it"

But then I come to these boards.

And I see a lot of people who don't "get it" and it just infuriates me.

Most of them are PK's.

Its a role playing game.

You choose a side. Good or Evil.

If you are an NPK, you do realize that you are role playing EVIL right?

You do realize that you are murderers?

Thats the role you play. You are the enemy of humanity. You are the enemy of
order and protecting the weak.

Because I come to these boards, and I see these amazing posts. Amazingly
clueless actually.

PK's seem to think that Anti's are like Gestapo. Like "The Man" trying to
keep me down! Like we're all Republicans looking to impose our beliefs on
you.

Nope. We're the good guys. We're the ones that are trying to emulate Heroes,
not villains. We're the ones trying to be Arthur, and Druss, and Merlin, and
Belgarath. You know? The ones all the heroic fantasy is written about? The
Heroes?

Stop trying to portray Anti's on here like they are all a bunch of tight
asses. Like we don't "get it". Like we're a bunch of killjoys who ruin the
game for you.

I see so many "Negative about Anti" posts, and "Negative about anti"
comments, it makes me fear for this world.

Today, I saw a guy who was upset that now all his clan mates hated him
because he and a friend had turned PK.

The most stunning thing was the guy who posted "Yeah, well, you're among
real friends now."

Um, no.

He's among murderers, backstabbers and assassins. Evil people. (Well, role
playing evil people, not REAL evil people)

Just because you kill people randomly, does not automatically make you part
of some elite club.

You're not l33t.

You're not cool, feared, amazing, or respected.

You're Evil.

There's nothing grand about being evil, and most of all..

And to tell the truth...

You have it easy.

And you know it.

You're still playing the carebear version of DT.

You think its a challenge playing over here? Try playing Anti for 35 levels
and THEN tell me how l33t you are.

Heres the deal.

If you play as an RPK you get to...

1. Kill anyone you want just for the hell of it.

2. Raid towns, get a pile of loot, and then leave.

3. Kill people who have something you want.

4. Not worry about if someone is evil or good.

5. No baggage. Just play the game.

If you are anti - you get to do none of these things.

Now the thing is, if you are an RPK, you don't get to do all of these
things, AND think you're the good guys.

You can think that if you want, but you're wrong. You're role playing
murderers. You're role playing EVIL. You don't get to come to these boards
and think you're special because you're playing DT at its easiest. You don't
get to come to these boards and think you are part of some l33t club because
you are random.

You can do this, and thats your perogative, but lets have a little reality
check. You're not the heroes of Dereth. You're not the ones the Saga Poets
sing songs about. You're not the ones the stories are written about.

You're role playing evil.

That means your bad.
