rei@Turbine> Yes, we are thinking about how lockpicking can
be
helped....
rei@Turbine> Lockpick-requiring doors and chests are still
part of
the solution, but we are interested in interesting suggestions
too :)
So yes, there ARE plans, or at least they know that Lockpick
needs help. This contradicts what you have written.
Actually, they have been saying for at least 6 months that they
were looking at ways to improve lockpick.
If you say you are "looking into something" for 6 development
cycles, that means that you're not working very hard at it.
I consider that a no.
Also, I am going by the quality of their response and past history
based on those responses.
Like "Cooking will be a good skill to have."
Their fix to cooking was not to make actual things that you could
cook, that were useful, that were worth the time to put into them,
but rather, made cooking needed to make robes and cook lug sinews.
Thats not really fixing cooking. Fixing cooking would make it so
that, like melee defense, and like arcane lore, it was useful at
all levels. Ways to do this include being a cook means the food
ytou pick up becomes more useful for regaining health and stamina.
As it is, the time and effort you put into makeing fried fish or
hearty healing kidney pie, is not worth the time or effort by a
WIDE margin. They could make this a viable trade skill with very
little effort, and they are not. Making it so you need a cook with
300 skill to cook lugian sinews and 300 skill to dye robes, does
not make cooking a viable skill to have. Its still a mule skill.
"Yes, we are thinking about how lockpicking can be helped...."
Based on the fact that they are still THINKING about how lockpick
can be helped, and based on past performance, and based on their
lack of enthusiam for the question, this to me equates a No.
Now don't get me wrong. I don't care that lockpick isn't getting
love, and I don't care that missle isn't getting love. I'm not asking
this so that my sucky skills get better. What I am asking is that
skills be worth what you pay for them, and balence them a little
bit. I don't think its the dev's jobs to give us new party hats
and robes every month.
I think there job is to balence the game and fix the bugs first,
party hats after that.
Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

rei@Turbine> Hmm, that's a difficult bug....
rei@Turbine> We are looking into what can be done, but it's
not an
easy situation.
rei@Turbine> Done.
They are looking into what can be done. That is not a no.
Based on past performance - that is a no. Do they state that they
almost have a fix in the works? Do they state that its coming at
any foreseeable time? Do they seem at all concerned about this question?
one line for someone that is level 60 and does not have her racial
skill?
>
> Are there any plans to make Missle Defense worth something?
No.
nei@turbine> (the conversation is being held presently)
rei@Turbine> It's certainly a good issue ... we'll have to
look into
it. There aren't current plans but that could always change.
rei@Turbine> Done.
You got this one right.

> Are there any plans to fix the three towers quest, its always
frikkin
> broken!!! No.
Charley@Turbine> We are aware of a bug in that quest, but it's
a
tricky one. It seems that sometimes if players complete the quest
out
of order it will confuse some of the mechanics. We're working
on a
fix, but we have no ETA.
They are TRYING to fix it. This is not a "no".
"We're working on a fix, but we have no ETA."
Considering how long the open corpse bug has been in, tricky bugs
like this one do not get fixed. If its partially working, which
the three tower is, then they will NOT get around to fixing it any
time soon. Like, ever.
I base this on the fact that most bugs, that they consider minor
do not get fixed.
I saw a level 22 alliance monarch with 345 follows the other day.
The bug about breaking alliances is still there.
The drudges in the dires doing insane unarmed damage? they didn't
actually look into why unarmed monster do more damage than their
weapon weilding counterparts, they just GAVE THE DRUDGES WEAPONS.
Thats not a fix. thats a hack. a kuldge. And it ignores the fact
that possibly, something is wrong with Unarmed.
they didn't really fix that bug.
They won't fix three towers for months either, if ever. I am betting
on never. Not because I am a bitter old fart, but because I am basing
this assumption on past performance.

> Thats whats I've read so far. in the first 1/4 of the document

> I HATE the devs. Its just that simple.
This post has illustrated more than any other you have written
how jaded you're starting to get. Half of the "no's"
that you point out aren't even "no's".
They are Yes's only if you have not read a dev chat before.
How about
"We're fixing Magic comps shopping in such a way that you won't
be able to live without it. Its just so cool you won't believe it."
Now, the peas are a cool idea, and the splitter is a cool idea,
and I'm REALLY happy they reduced comp weight by 20%.
But "not going to be able to live without it?"
I don't even know anyone thats using it.
Speculation on this issue was high that you would have a shopping
list you could get just filled with one easy click, or a quest for
a bag that stored all your comps like a bag of holding.
What we got was 20% reduction in weight, which is fantastic. And
we got peas and a tool, that take up more space in our already full
packs. I'm only a one school mage, and I have two packs filled with
comps, I can't imagine being a mage, and as for shopping, it did
nothing to allieviate looking through all your comps and just buying
the right numbers of everything you need, which was hinted at by
Nei.
How about
"The sword of lost light is once again going to be THE weapon
to have."
Its the hardest quest in the game, and you end up with a lame weapon.
I'm saying all of this to show you that I am basing my assumptions
on past performance.
"Looking into it" means 6 months to 9 months away. Thats
a no to me. Saying that they are looking to fix lickpick so its
more useful, means they are looking to fix it so its more useful
like cooking. Bugs that they are looking into - never really get
looked into unless it is a GLARING error like the Aerlinthe quest.
That was huge. That didn't work at all. The thre towers quest does
not work 50-75% of the time. That means it works 25% of the time
and will not be fixed. Aluvian women without dagger trained, while
major to some people, is a small percentage of players, it will
not get fixed. The missle defense and lockpick skills will remain
something that should not be taken. I base this on past dev chats
and past performances of the devs.
I'm not trying to be antaganoistic when I say this, I just love
a good debate. I would love it if you could repsond to this message
with counter points, pointing out skills that used to suck that
they have made useful to take for everyone, or show me fixes that
they have implemented to bugs. Not game altering, uncompletable
quests, but bugs like the corpse bug that do not serieslyt affect
game play, but are bugs.
And again, I reiterate, I just like a good discussion, I'm not trying
to get your goat.
