A Friend

| I would like to offer someone up as a friend for
the Source. I was hunting in one hut south dires town about two weeks
ago. Died horribly. I think I got run down and stuck like a pig by
two raveners at leve 21. Then, as I'm riding the gorgeous pruple tunnel
back to mayoi, I realize that I lost my Mattie Robe that had been
gifted to me by Gryff.
Well, hoary's are extinct, and there was no way in hell I was going
to lose that robe. So I go back, buff as best I can with no armor
on, and try to make a run through the bottle neck right at the head
of the river. Unfortunately, I don't make. I don't try to clear all
of the spawns there, because at level 21, I just don't have the firepower
to kill everything there before it starts to respawn. So, it's like
4:30 or 5 in the morning, and noone is on. This could be bad. I portal
recall back to S Dires, and head for the shop, praying that someone
is there who can help me. There's one person there. Fists of Fury.
He's like, "Yeah, let's go, I'm up for a challenge." SO we head for
the bottleneck again, but this time, the spawn has changed. Not good.
Big old nasty shadow lt. staring us in the face. Spies us, comes running
for fists. Thankfully, it's the only one that comes over. Starts beating
on him, I heal like the massively grateful person that I am cuz this
random guy agrees to help me. Uh oh, why is all of that sparkly stuff
coming at me. Is that whirling blade? Sidestepsidestepsidestep...um,
wow, lifestone in Mayoi looks familiar. Yay, 15%. Ok, hop back, send
tell to Fists. You ok? See white dot on my radar beside me. Oh, hi
there Fists, where did you have to hop back from? New plan. We get
to the bottleneck. Mean old mr lt musta got some time off, cuz he's
gone. Um..ash grommies, before they fixed teh sticky. Ok. Fists is
gonna run down the left side, cut across, and run back up the right
side, drag all the stalkers and grommies with him....sounds good,
right? Ya, I thought so. I run down the left side, then remember "Oh
hell, there's a second grommie spawn right out of the bottleneck...did
I mention the weather is beautiful in mayoi this time of year?" Get
tell from Fists"make it?" as he sees my white dot running up on the
shop again. Ok, this is bad. boost up, still able to cast level III
boosts and armor, bolt for the bottleneck again. Recruit two germans
there this time. Von Loven, and I'm afraid I don't remember the other
guys name. The agree to help, so we go back they start clearing, and
tell me to go...wow, did a tume officer just shoot me for 42? It's
amazing how the sun sparkles off of the water in Mayoi in the spring.
25%and still portaling. Get back, they have most of the bottleneck
clear. Um, problem, I can't even get to the shop. Big red letters
"Mire Phyntos wasps burns you for 42" Big green letters, "Mire phyntos
wasp cleaves you in twain" Now I can't even get past the shop. I need
to own the real estate the lifestone sits on. 30% and I can still
portal, but it takes me a couple of tries this time. Go back..they
ahve the alley still cleared again, fists runs infront of me to make
sure any spawns hit me first. I must have the worst luck. Now I get
to the shop, wasp right on my ass getinside, breathebreathebreathe,
wait, what's that buzzing sound, oh, that was the start of the new
purple tunnel ride at the amusement park, god I was supposed to be
asleep 3 hours ago, and I've been trying to get to the first body
for over an hour now. Come back, and managed to burn a vitae point
casting portal recall, 8 tries I think, then casting level III armor
and buffs again. Run back down, it's actually honest to god clear
again, Fists runs with me from the portal in, clears path to shop,
clears path to bottleneck, germans emptied the bottle neck...why is
Fists running backwards? why....am....I...moving...in...slow...motion.
Why am I now rebooting my comp? Why am I now at 39% vitae? I get in,
I still manage to portal back(I think that one was 23 or 24 tries,
I was counting but have since forgotten, but the magic gods were kind
to me. Nice to know I can portal recall to where my body is at with
39%vitae.) I get there, and lo and behold, there is Fists, running
escort for me again. Kill eveil wasps, kill evil swamp grommies, monsters
fall by the wayside. Germans are standing like ancient barbarians
with enemies layed waste aroaund them in the bottleneck. I'm doing
searches for my bodies and there must be well over a dozen corpses
there that haven't decayed yet. Get a body, get a body..Fists, where
did I lag to? Oh thanx man...I don't know what I woulda done. Offers
me escort, finally get to last body..close to 2 hours after I first
died. It's still there. I wonder how close it was to decaying, but
I get it. I get the robe back. I get everything else that I worked
so hard to earn and find for Deao. |

| I see my poor hapless mage get beaten back again
and again, but I get the robe back. That robe to me has now become
worth more than gold. Gryff gave that robe to me, and I'll be damned
if anything keeps me from getting it back. And Fists of Fury helped
me to accomplish that. |
