I log in last night, and am anxious to try out
the BSD. I buff and
portal recall, and viola, I'm in Tuskerland. Fortunately, the
spawn's a bit slow, and I have time to learn the layout a bit. I
kill some tuskers, and am able to raise quickness another couple
points. I like my primary stats right now. I die once, but rebuff,
and come back in and my vitae goes away quickly. I kill more tuskers
and recover my corpse. I'm almost out of kits, so I head back to
Yanshi.
I'm a spoiled mage. With a peerless healing kit (thanks druss)
I
healed myself for 100 points. I only have 135 health. 100 points
is
pretty damn good considering how strange healing is...
Oh, my stats for those who are curious...
100/120/60/100/170/170
Not too shabby if I say so myself. I'm glad I started with 30
strength, especially now that I need to wear armor. I have raised
strength and quickness 70 points each, but endurance only 60. I'm
sure I'll raise it more, but at this stage, I feel that strength
and
quickness are more important. Coordination was brought up to help
my
staff skill, but actually helps my melee defense to a point where
I'm
able to evade things from time to time. Not tuskers, but once in
a
while other things will miss me, which is nice.
I hang in Yanshi for a bit, and see some people there. Mhali's
having fun in the Lugian citadel with Herri. I chase off a Red Devil
or Jubei. Might have been a Shollos, not sure.
I log in later to run to Q-bar to get more kits. I decide to stop
in
Shoushi and check for any punks to kill. I find instead a high level
mage. Lightning Vuln VI hits. I go into combat to recall. I fumble
around and am on the wrong spelltab... Jevak Quasith or something
like that. A Streak?? I might still make it. Nope. I'm dead and
going back to the Lifestone the easy way. He just one-shot me with
a
streak. Unreal! I send him a quick "Nice Fight" then leave.
Nanto
again. I run this time from Nanto to Hebian to, and portal to Q-bar.
I decide not to lifestone here, and instead run to the Citadel.
I go
inside and after killing a few lugians I'm attacked by Cannibis
or
something like that. I hit the exit portal to see if anyone's with
him, and there isn't. I go into combat and start draining. He
quickly turns tail and runs back into the dungeon. Not sure if he
logged or not. Don't care really. I chat with some teen-level
characters near the entrance, and find out their friends of Silent.
Cool. I go back in, and finish working off vitae, and see someone
fighting a lugian. Instinctively I Imperil it for him, and he
says 'ty'.
I check him, and see he's a red devil.
I do the wrong thing. I don't say anything to him, I don't attack
him, I just pretend I didn't assess him. I'm pretty confident I
could take him, or at least make him run. Instead I let him live.
I choke. I'm now questioning my commitment to being radically anti.
He was level 30, and melee. I'm level 30 and mage. I had the
upperhand. Even if he pulled a hollow weapon out, I'm wearing
reedshark leggings and matty coat. I could have at the very least
made him run. But instead I left him there, and went on my merry
way
picking up kits.
I didn't feel sorry for him. I just felt uncomfortable attacking
someone I had just helped. I was hesitant to even post this, but
I
think it's something that should be brought into the light.
So what did I learn?
#1 - Always make sure your spellbar is on the correct tab after
buffing. (My buffs are on tab 3. My combat spells are on tab 1.
When I got hit with lightning vuln, I couldn't get to my recall
spell
fast enough.)
#2 - Poop or get off the toilet. Am I radically anti, or only anti
when it's convenient? I really need to be more aggressive to the
point of stupidity, and not afraid to the point of neutralness.
