Farik's Day
by Farik Il'Kadar (3/13/00)
Here's a recounting of Sunday.
Wow the day I had.
Started off in the morning, up around the Mountain Retreat. I ran around up there, powerleveling, made about 50k in an hour. Died once to Sandstone Golem but actually cleared vitae before I got back to my corpse. Incredible place.
Made my way up to the Ice Golem Shrine, find Rojon and some archer, whose name I keep forgetting, camping out. Within a few minutes Rhodry and Hiro arrive. Hey lets go to the Crater Caves, and hunt really big golems.
So Rhodry and I, having LS Recall, port back to Mtn Retreat to start the run to some dungeon (bad I am with names today). Anyway this dungeon leads up to the Crater Caves. This dungeon full of Zefirs and Wisps. At the entrance are a bunch of people, milling around, getting up their nerve to go in. Rhodry rallies them, and we start climbing up this tunnel. I was the Zefir kill-hog, seemed like every swing was cutting one down. That is when I wasn't getting hell-lagged. Rhodry visits the lifestone a couple times, but I must say he was a man of many roles that trip. I was just tanking, he was tank/heal/walldrain/navigator.
Sooo anyway, the rest of us make it up to the Crater. I ditch the strangers to make the run again from Mtn Retreat, with Rhodry Rojon and Hiro. We get back to the dungeon, and Rhodry goes off to bring in a little help. Which turns out to be Only-Allowed-To-Name-Himself, Sister C, Muttfyre, Cyblade, Hiya. (Did I get that right? Big group sorry if I forgot someone). In this group I'm not such a kill-hog, which suits me just fine with Zefirs. (BTW it is so cool to go up against a Dark Wisp right after a life mage has sucked all the mana out of it :)
We get on up to the Crater. The Rhodry Express ports us across the lake, into the Caves. We lollygag around for a while, killing the half-dozen grannies/obsidian/iron golems we find in a half-hour. Lots of corpses in here.
Then we decide to make 'the jump'. Which leads down, from a fairly standard-issue cavernous dungeon, into a bowels-of-the-earth volcanic area. The kind of place you'd expect to find magma golems.
And it doesn't take long. We find a lone magma, and proceed to the attack. Your Fellow Hiya Aokawa has died! Uh-oh that didn't take very... Your Fellow Sister C has died! Hmmm not good. Now that the pesky archers are dead, the golem figures out that I've been sticky-patched on him, chipping away at his back with my little ice pick. He turns around and POW Magma Golem bashes you for 28 bludgeoning. Ok well I've still got like 90 left. BLAM Magma Golem crushes your skinny Gharundim ass for 68 points of bludgeoning damage. Uh Oh MEDIC. Oh hey Hiya, hey C.
I'm just standing there, waiting for someone to come make a portal, when Whoosh You are now Level 25! You have to make 480k more xp before you get another skill point! Sweet. They must have finished the thing off. And heh heh turns out I got the kill. Nice loot too, green al 50 pauldrons.
So we all come out, then go back in. We kill one more magma, and this one has a Mote! Great day. It is decided that it's too dangerous in here (no argument from me) and we leave for other pursuits.
Those of us with nothing better to do remain in the fellowship, and head for the Power Plant. This ends up being me, Rojon, Rhodry, Hiya, and Cy. I don't know about other days, but today, the Power Plant is ass. The shadows take forever to spawn and drop crap loot.
After a few spawns, we decide to run up to the Pit. Which is not my fave place in the world but I like killing monougas. They're easy and give fat xp. We make the ridiculously long run. Which is another thing I don't like to do, post-patch anyway. I hate it when Banderling Raider Hits You For Damage He Couldn't Dream Of Before The Patch. And when we do get to the Pit, we basically head straight for the campground, er I mean the chest room. I got killed twice by the Lich Lord last time I was here. Ah but tonight, tonight it will be different.
We are in line with someone named Ragnar. Who was quite cool about taking turns. Cy had to log after a short while, so that left five of us in line. We went through two spawn cycles.
(Every half-hour or so I get a 'MOTE' tell from Sac. Drives me nut
