My Adventures Last
Night
by Hakeem (2/17/00) |
| I logged in near Sister C and
tried to talk her out of her pants, but she wouldn't let me. Actually
that sounds worse that it was. I offered to purchase her cool Yoroi
pants, but she said they were a gift. I tried to explain that a gift
given twice is better than a gift given once, but she'd have none
of it. |
|
| So, I started working on some
XP, having a blast since Miko had helped me work off Vitae and level
to 23 the previous night. I'm about half way to level 24 now, and
hope to get that by the end of this weekend. I'm saving all my XP
from now until 26 so I can raise Item as high as possible when I finally
get it. |
|
| I kill some Monouga's, and take
on a Granite Golem. It's a blast killing them toe to toe instead of
draining them from above their lair. Bludge Vuln III, Shock Wave III
- Hits for 50's and 60's each shot. I drop him fairly quickly and
go over to see what gifts his crumbled body has for me. Some spell
components and gems. Nice, I'll just pick these up and... Holy crap!
Shadow LT hits you for 49 with Force Bolt IV or some such nonsense.
I get hit immediately after with Frost Bolt something (Not sure, but
the bolt was bigger than me) and quickly cast Lifestone Recall the
easy way. So now I've got a corpse near some shadows, with some really
good items on it. |
|
| I ask Sister C to help me, and
of course she does. I boost her with Quickness III, Sprint Other III,
and Armor Other III. She takes off and I get my things. Pretty uneventful,
as nothing touches her or me. But thanks very much for making the
distraction for me.. |
|
| I work off vitae on Monouga's
and more golems, and decide to run up the hill that Miko is so fond
of. I find some Tumeroks, but decide I want to save mana for bigger
things. I take on some more golems, finally starting to hit Coppers
with some consistancy, then stumble across some skeletons. I decide
to take on a captain, and Vuln him, but then a Lord jumps up and starts
to chase. I run, and he follows. The other guys stay put. I think,
"why am I running? I'm a tank mage!" And turn on him. I start blasting
him, while he chips away at me for a few points at a time. Then he
lets loose with a war spell that drops me down to less than half of
my life. I start healing myself, but too slow, and he takes me again
with his next war spell. My mistake? The skeleton was at maybe 10%
life, and had I hit him again instead of trying to heal, I would have
probably killed him. No biggie. |
|
| I recover my corpse, and start
running back toward the mage shack ("the mage shack, is a little old
place, where.. you can get components, mage shack bay-bee....") and
see some Drudgies. I LOVE killing these guys. I only see two, so I
should be ok. I think I can still kill them with 5% V. I vuln one,
and run away until only one is chasing me. (Turns out there were 3,
and I didn't want to take them all at the same time) Unfortunately
the one I vulned ran back to his spot, and a different one is chasing
me. I try to kill him, but damned spells kill me again. I'm further
impacted because after running back I didn't Armor myself like I should
have, and have to cast it during the battle instead of before. It's
like taking a Paris Mulligan. Or like the Drudge cast Time Walk. So
now the Drudge has Card Advantage, and Time Advantage. Man, I hate
blue. So he takes me down, and now I'm up to 10% V. |
|
| I run back up the hill, and see
some Ash Gromnies. I've taken these guys before when I'm at 0% vitae,
and should be able to work off a point or two by killing these two
Ashies. I cast Piercing Vuln III on him, and he starts charging. I
had almost forgotten how fast these guys are. I also fail to start
at a safe distance, as he's probably halfway between my little green
dot on radar, and the edge of my radar when I first start casting.
I damage him very well with a nice bolt, but he resists. I take a
couple shots (these guys attack pretty fast as well) and I hit him
again, where he's got maybe 5 life left. He finishes me, as I cast
the killing shot. Now vitae's up to about 15% |
|
| Damn, damn, damn. |
|
| People have different problems
in the game. Some are kill stealers. Some power level too much, then
get bored with it. Others trick people with Ctrl-V, and other means
and rip them off. |
|
| My problem in the game is I'm
impatient. When I'm solo moreso that with a group it seems, but I
hate running away from things then coming back to kill them. I hate
running away period. Not as much as I hate dying in the game, nor
vitae, but I really don't like to run away from something. |
|
| But I've learned that when I'm
smart enough to run, even for a little while. I have an easier time
killing things than when I refuse to run. And running back from a
rock (Like The Legend's Run-To Rock in the Dires) is much faster than
running back from the big blue rock that supported by Mattekar Tusks
(Do Matty's have tusks?) that I'm attuned to. |
|
| So I guess I need to be more patient,
more strategic, and less anxious to kill something. |
