My first attempt at taking down a Tusker Slave wasn't very
successful. After receiving some tutelage from Deao, I decided to
try again. I worked off some Vitae I had picked up in Yanshi from a
nice PKer. Nailed me for 89 first shot, with a crossbow. Being the
manly mage that I am, I ran behind yanshi Inn and tried to recall,
but got nailed with the second shot. On the plus side, I only
dropped some scarabs, and a non-magical shirt. :)

I messaged him a bit later, congratulating him on the kill, and we
chatted a bit. Nice enough player for a PK.

Anyway.. I portalled to Teth to see about working off my vitae, and
quickly did so on some Drudges out there. Gotta love those guys.

I then decided to try the Tusker Slave again, which is told here in
the following story from the other message board...

After taking a course in Tusker beatdown from Deao, I decide to test
fate again against the beast known as "Red Monkey with little metal
hat"

First, I decide to soften him up with a little Magic Yield lovin'.

I respond by saying "No. I'll gain FIFTY NINE, while you take a
bunch more than that!"

Tusker Slave bashes you for 18 points of bludgeoning damage!

He chuckles and says, "Remember last night? Remember the Fifty Four
damage hit? It's comin!"

I respond and say, "Feazh Zhapaj"
You gain 43 points of health due to casting Drain Health Other I on
Tusker Slave

He doesn't reply, so I again say, "Feazh Zhapaj"

OK. He was meditating for that resist. No matter.

Yee-ha! His health bar is VERY low now. One more should do it.

Unfortuntately he decides to go for the kill as well. Grr... From
96 I drop to 71 very quickly.

Not only is he kicking the crap out me, he's slapping me with his
hands. I'm down to 64.

I panic and try to drain again... I'm at 49.

Naturally he's hurt, as you can see the miniscule amount of life I
gained from him. I''m down to 48 now.

Twenty two.

The magic surges through you.

From twenty two, down to three. I'm know I'm dead, but I keep
banging my finger on the Flame Bolt IV key... DAMN IT!! I HAD HIM!!!

Err...

Dhali does the happy dance of beatdown.

I got some sweet Kouija or Celdon sleeves for my trouble. Or Amuli.
Something. AL 112, I think. Black with red trim. Awesome looking.

I also got a buttload of XP. I had started with around 15K
spendable, and left with I think 28K. Holy crap! I gained quite a
bit from the big red fellow.

I know this is long, and I apologize for that. Don't worry, I won't
be cutting and pasting all future Tusker kills to the message group,
but I really wanted to share this with everyone.

Thanks VERY much to Deao for his very helpful smackdown tips.

I used Armor V, Bludge Prot V, Impen V on robe and leather gloves,
and Bludge Bane IV on those as well. Made a huge difference, as many
hits were very low. Can't wait for level VI spells.
