The dark lord was enraged by my betrayal. He reached beyond the
boundaries of his new prison to destroy those that left him to return
to the light. It took me in a fever of the mind, slowly gnawing
at my sanity. All his pain and anguish flowing freely into my conscious.
It was too much for any man to take. Disease ravaged my body and
my sanity continued to spiral downward.
Then, there came an all encompassing light. It was soft at first,
but grew in brilliance. A grandfatherly old man picked up my broken
body, never flinching at the wreck I had become, never taking concern
for himself that it may be transfered. Then all was darkness. I
awoke the next morning in my hometown, Yanshi. I was whole once
again, yet changed somehow. My poessions were nowhere to be found,
and I felt oddly different. I was weaker somehow, yet my spark of
potential had begun to rekindle. Running to the river I saw that
I had indeed changed, I was no longer a proud sho warrior, but an
aluvian.
As I puzzeled about my new self two drudges saw me as an easy target.
I was used to destroying them with my hands and feet alone, but
now I could not find my balance nor my grace to dodge their blows
nor strike back. Suddenly there was a splitting pain in my head,
on of them had bludgeoned me with a small mace he was carrying.
I fell on my back, the only thing I could do and reached for the
nearest thing, praying that i would not be undone before I could
learn more about this new body.
Then my unconscious mind took over as I grasped the stick. I had
heard about this sensation before, but was unfamiliar with how it
would feel. I was channeling. The power flowed through me, allowing
me to shape and bend it to my will. Two bolts of flame appeared
and incinerated my attackers, leaving no remains for the crows.
I began to set the wound on my head, but relaized I had lost my
understanding of healing. With the remainder of my strength I healed
the wound to my head. Amazingly easy with the magic, much faster
than when I could use herbs and cloth. Puzzled about my new self,
I set off to town to discover the remainder of my skills.
