Hunters Chase asks
to join 10:03am EST - Druss
There are two people who would like to get into the Source, One
of them is Acklebar Gromish, and the other is Hunters Chase.
Here is the note Hunters sent to me, and said I could post to the
list.
Well Ive been out of alliegance for
quite some time now, i guess 2 months by now, and have only been
in one.
I guess to start Ill fill you in on how i know about your clan,
and what struck me about it, then if you would like to continue
dialouge, that would be fantastic.
I started using Mayoi meeting hall about a month ago, having two
accounts, primary a mage, and secondary just mules and portallers.
I came up with this grand scheme of making a melee charater, for
i had never know the ways of the strong, and created a mace warrioress,
named Hunters Chase. I would boost her and she would go out into
the wild and kill and run and heal and fight, well I began to
have the time of my life. It became methodical, and i passed off
all regulars and such in the hall, as at first i wanted privacy
to buff my melee with my main, which is Flip. The ease of getting
to the Archmage made it easy to restock, and stam potions were
accessible, which is why i decided to make Mayoi home in the first
place.
After a while, even playing Hunters
in an olthoi dungeon or what not, I watched both screens, starting
to pay attention to the regulars in Mayoi hall where Flip bathed
in the mana pool awaiting her return. This is when i started to
see a group that was together more than any I have seen, including
my old clan, and I started feeling homesick. Well I watched this
for several weeks, just having Flip sit in the pool, even if Hunters,
which I was always playing firsthand, was out on her own fighting
without a little nudge from spells. Always have them both logged
on, im an addict:) Anyway, i started to see a very put together
group, from alot of members that had Druss as a monarch. I watched
as several hunts were gone over and thought thru, and heard the
stories when it was over, saw Serac trips completed, and I just
got overwhelemed.
Something I have been looking for.
Lately, I even have piped up and dropped
things as rav guts and iron ores and boosted strenghts and item
masteries, not because i was looking for approval, but because
i felt kinda like one of them. Things like this happen when you
spend your space with a core group so long.
Well thats how I came about finding
the clan, and if youd like I could go into detail of my history
of an AC mage to the point where I created Hunters Chase. Ive
had a great ride here in Dereth, but am severly lacking something
now, family.
ramble ramble ramble
Id like to give my thanks to
Rojon for taking the time
to here me out when i finally had the nerve to speak out, pass
that along if ya could.
Brandon

Prospective Member
- Arch Massif 10:01am EST
- Stylgar
Not sure if this is the best timing in the world, with a rather
serious issue being deliberated, but - I would like to recommend/nominate,
whatever I need to do Arch Massif for membership in the Source.
Arch Massif - War / Life / Item, level 10 (soon to be 11 this afternoon)
Mule - Farruq Asare (Mayoi)
Mule - Massif II (Shoushi)
He is a RL very good friend of mine. Online, he has played Massif
as well as Arch Massif. I believe Barack/Balgarion
and Khali/Blast
Jr would also vouch for him. He has met many of the Source as
one
person or character or the other. We hunted last week with Tamo,
and then A-Cho.
He is also subscribed to the list - Go ahead and speak up Arch
Massif!
He would be pledged to Stylgar.
(Whoa, Rank 2!)
I believe he would be a great addition to the Source. Thank you.

To Druss and The
Source 10:01am EST - Highest
Dark Revenant, Serac Vault
To Lord Druss and Members
of The Source,
You and your followers have proved yourselves in plundering the
Dagger of Tikola from our stronghold in Tikola's Cellars. I congratulate
you and your followers in your efforts.
Then again, I laugh at your feeble attempts in the Serac Vault.
It was with pleasure that we watched Mizu-No's
corpse decay after his foolhardy entry some time ago,
The visit by a handful of your bravest warriors and mages was at
best foolhardy. We enjoyed watching you suffer and snickered at
seeing you run around without armor. You party had to summon a portal
to exit our vault rather than use the provided one. Weaklings.
I put forth the following challenge: The Source will never own the
Serac Vault. Simple as that. You will never pull the major stone
from our grasp.
With utter contempt,
Highest Dark Revenant

Portal to anywhere?
10:01am EST - Rojon
There's a person posting on CoD claiming to be able to summon a
portal to any point in Dereth. Its theorized that if you taught
a character Summon without actually ever entering a portal, they
would summon to the last place they logged in.
Of course that means Speedy runs anywhere in Dereth he wants to
"tie" to, logs off and on, then runs all the way back
to civilization so others can tie to his summoned portal which theoretically
will be where he logged.
Sounds like a helluva way to run a railroad. :S
Still, think of being able to summon/tie people to places like
the Ice Shrine, HoLL and other places that you can't tie to.
Given that, I might just make Speedy Gonzales my next project:
[Attributes]
Strength=10
Endurance=10
Coordination=10
Quickness=100
Self=100
Focus=100
[Skills]
Available Points=0
Trained=Appraise Item,Jump,Loyalty,Magic Defense,Staff,Mana Conversion,Life
Magic,Creature Enchantment,Arcane Lore
Specialized=Run,Item Enchantment
[Heritage]
Selected=Gharu'ndim
I could macro this mule to do the same thing in a week of nighttime
macroing. In fact I just might.
All xp goes into Focus/Self/Item until it can Summon, then it goes
into Run/health to make him fast and live longer.
Life and Creature ensure he gains xp from macroing fastest, and
to boost his skills when he learns portal spells.

Cellars Trip Report
10:00am EST - Jackaroo
Well the Cellars was actually uneventful. We had a big turnout
and split into 2 groups. It was really cool to see so many mid levelers
out there and hats off to Boreal
for getting up in the middle of the night! The liches were begging
us for mercy.
After the Cellars some of us regrouped and went to S Dires. This
is where things got interesting. I don't remember the whole sequence
of events but suffice to say we spent most of our time there doing
corpse recovery and dealing with the lag. Probably the funniest
part was when several of us got debuffed by the new high level Bandy.
Hehe I think it was there revenge for so many slaughters by the
Source at Bandy Camp.
It looks to me as if the mid levelers should stick to S Dires or
the Citadels. We have graduated from eastern Dereth for the most
part I think. I plan to run Jackaroo down and tie to the Citadel
near Kara to portal people there. The Lin Citadel was ridiculously
crowded the other night.

Trust me - its
time 7:56pm EST - Druss
It is time for the Source to have a new monarch. I have long said
that the Source is just a good group of people, it doesn't have
anything to do with me being leader. So now, I request that someone
else be monarch for a while.
I wrote this letter two days ago, sent it to my wife and she said
"let is sit for a few days." And it has. And I feel no
different. I desperatly need a break from the responsibility. I
know you all understand.
Reasons?
1. Mare and I are enjoying Darktide, and I don't like feeling like
I am abandoning people. While HG is still our primary home, we do
play over there about 50% of the time lately. I think the Source
of HG should have a monarch that plays there almost exclusively.
2. Mutt just bought me a copy of EQ and I know I will want to at
least look at it. I might actually play there a bit. The devious
bastard actually bought it and sent it to me to try and get me hooked.
3. Heavy is the head that wears the crown.
What that means is - I just want to be another member of the Source
for a while. I want to come and go as I please, play where I wish,
when I wish, and not feel like I am doing something wrong. I want
to be able to leave this game if I feel like it, and not feel like
a cad. I want to go on group expeditions and not worry so much because
I am the leader. I want to leave responsibility behind for a little
while. I'm sure you all understand.
I nominate Miko K-sun (Or Simone) to take over for me for a bit.
If they will have the job. He probably won't.
But
1. He's the man I most trust with the job
2. He's the best fighter of all of of us.
3. He's the richest of all of us.
4. He's one of the few people that I could pledge too
5. He has a lot of respect from a lot of people on HG
6. He has no kids and a significant other that plays.
All these are essential.
thanks
Jamie

The Source Subway:
a proposal 7:55pm EST -
Rojon
How about a Source "Subway"?
I plan on having at least 2 mules that can summon tied to different
frequently visited locations. It takes about a week of night-time
macroing to get a mule to level 20 (where most high level dungeons
start limiting access) and if anyone else would like to do the same
I'd be happy to help out.
My point is, if we can get 5 or 6 mules tied to the most common
sites, we can make our OWN Source "Subway"!
Anyone interested in participating?

Warning to those
going to Folthid's 10:02pm EST
- Jackaroo
the message was intercepted in route to the Cellars...
_____________________________________________
Note to Liches guarding the Green Rooms,
We have substantial information that a ragtag fellowship calling
themselves "The Source" will make yet another attempt
to plunder Tikola's dagger from our stronghold tomorrow evening.
You are ordered to obliterate them. Be particularily cautious of
their numbers. Utilize the strength of your life spells to render
their combat ineffective. Finish them with spells of cold, fire
and lightening.
Our sources hear of their plans to overwhelm you with magic, missile
weapons and close ranged combat. It is likely they will wield weapons
of fire and you may be imperiled by their life magic. Be prepared,
they are followers of the powerful Monarch Druss. The bite of his
axe is a bitter memory. We have defeated him in Serac Vault but
fear that he will rise up again and push us from the Serac Vault
soon. His followers are determined. The Nexus may be our only hope.
Your master,

This Weekend
8:25pm EST - Rojon
I'd like to set up a couple of events for this weekend.
First of all, I'd like to get the Atlan tool. Is it feasible to
do this Friday night at 8ish? Some people have been there, would
you please step forward and make yourselves known?
Secondly, I'd like to take any midlevels who can handle Ice Golems
(generally lvl 17+) to the Mountain Retreat and the Ice Shrine.
If we do this early enough on Saturday our European friends can
join in if they wish to come. Is 2pm EST too early for folks?
If you plan on spending a few days at the shrine I recommend you
have lifestone/portal recall so you only ever have to make this
run once. Its a good half-hour, forty-five minute run through the
nastiest of East Dereth's creatures including Mites, Tuskers and
even some shadows. I have a route planned with
several lifestones along the way and even some sightseeing thrown
in to ease the boredom of the run.
If you are interested and plan on attending please reply and say
so now. If the times are not good, say so as well.

New SplitPea
6:31pm EST - Hiro
A new version of Split Pea came out today, and even the non-mages
will want to pick this one up. This one has a feature I've been
tinkering around with myself (now I don't have to write the code
myself!)- Goal achievement. Basically, you put all your primary,
secondary, trained and specialized stats in, tell the program what
you WANT your stats to look like, and it will determine the optimal
way to spend your xps. For instance, if your Sword skill is at 150,
and your String and Coord are each at 100, and you want to get your
sword skill to 200, do you dump xps into strength, coord, or sword
directly? Now Split Pea will tell you. Anyway, it's worth checking
out... http://cc.xrgaming.net/taper/

Hello from Boreal
3:25pm EST - Boreal
Hello!
I am Boreal, Ordius's
prospective vassal. I've been on this list for at least a few weeks
now but I decided to lurk until I was officially pledged into The
Source. However, with the postponement of the Prospective Vassal
Outing, I've decided I can be patient no more :)
I've met lots of you in game already and am really looking forward
to joining The Source proper. This has been on the cards for a long
time... I first spoke to Sister
C about potentially joining in mid-May and ended up deciding
to remake my character first. He made level 10 over a week ago and
then Ordius started arranging
the vassal outing. With its postponement and Ordius's
new working hours (CONGRATS BEN! That was quick!) I have no idea
when it'll be rearranged for, so I'm just going to pretend I'm in
the Source already ;)
And now, a few details:
Boreal is an archer and
item/life/creature mage and is currently level 15 and permanently
in Mayoi. His magical abilities leave a lot to be desired, but I'm
still getting used to being an archer, let alone a mage ;) He can
kill Sandstone Golems, Banderling Ravers and Amploth Lugians and
dies to Mattekars and armoredillos (that spinning stuff really hurts
without a shield)! Ordius
spoils him completely and therefore he has The Gorgeous Bow to play
with. He is always looking for people to fight with so if you're
bored and in Mayoi, please send him a /tell!
I also have another character called Neroli. She is a level 23
swordswoman (NO ITEM) who runs between Mayoi and Qalaba'r carrying
Aqua Incantus several times a week :) She is not a bad little fighter
though and I still play her fairly often. She is not Source but
she hunted Mayoi beach with Rhodry
when she was level 6 and did the Folthid Cellar with Druss
and Sister C when she
was level 15 so she counts as 'Friend of Source' I think :)
I live in England so unfortunately my online times are different
to most people. On the upside, I am horribly addicted to this game
and play constantly sacrificing sleep, domestic chores and social
life...! I'm online pretty much every night from 6pm - 2am (1pm
to 9pm EST) and ummm pretty much all afternoon and night at weekends:
typically 3pm - 5am (10am to midnight EST). Having said that I'm
going away this weekend so won't be around - aaargh! The withdrawal
symptoms!!
Druss and I started emailing
each other about Magic when Derelor was still Type II legal and
Ordius has seen me in real
life at tournaments. There's probably a few other Sourcers out there
who've read my columns on The Dojo. My name is Alice Coggins and
I'm a 25 year old ex-Magic player/writer. These days I occasionally
write Asheron's Call articles.
Hmm, this has got quite long hasn't it?
One last thing... with regard to the Prospective Vassal Outing.
I really really really want to do this soon. If I have to get up
at 2am on a weeknight then I will. Friday or Saturday would be better
as I don't have to work the next day. Midnight EST is okay too because
I can just get up at 5am and play for a couple of hours before work
;) At the end of the day, I will go whenever it is though! I'm quite
flexible (not to mention impatient lol) so please don't delay the
Outing on account of my silly time zone!
Cheers,
--Alice

Tonight's Prospective
Vassal Outing Cancelled 10:31am EST
- Ordius
1) ...So, again, long story short, I was fired/quit (I still don't
know which, I basically had it out with him over the phone then
hung up on him), and have already lined up a new job----which FINALLY
brings us to problem Number One: This outing (6pm Eastern) falls
smack dab in the middle of the hours of my new job! (5pm-9pm Eastern,
Mon-Sat).
2) Lack of interest. Most people seem set on NEXT Wednesday
at 8pm Central (9pm Eastern), which will be the 'official' vassal
outing. My personal problem is that my prospective, Boreal,
lives in England and cannot really start an outing at 2am, having
to be at work the next day. Is there any solution/alternative to
this? It seems like it will be very hard to coordinate US/Overseas
prospective vassals at the same time...
Ben Bleiweiss
Ordius
If you didn't get the spam, go to egroups to read the portion
that I snipped. Man Ben, that is some story. I hope your new job
works out for you --Khali

Major fire stone
Outing PEASE READ 8:39pm EST
- Cyblade
To answer some questions about the Fire stone Outing. I have been
doing alot of research on this stone as far as how to get it.
Question 1 How do we beat the Lag? A) leave 3 or more Mages behind.
there is a safe room down by the first jump. These mages will stay
in the safe room and drain everything that pops up. This will keep
the spawn down and reduce the lag.
Question 2 What is friday all about? A) Firday is set for a small
30 min get together. to go over our plan. Everyone that I have talked
to said the same thing. ' Have a plan before you get there. It will
make things go smoother.' So friday at a set time all that want
to go will get together in the mayoi meeting hall and go over what
we will do when we get there. Also task will be set for all going.
Task are as follow:
Drainers
Fighters
Support
Other things to talk about: Who will Tie and where they will tie
to How are we getting back after we get the stone Escape route if
we have to bug out in a rush What time we are leaving and where
from What is going to happen when we get to the room with the inferno
and the stone Who will go in first and clear a staging area What
the Fellowship will be and who will be in them
We will go in there a well Oiled Machine. Get the stone and get
out. If we have a plan and everyone know thier part in that plan
we will be Victorous.
There are somethings that will stop us from getting the stone
1) People not acting as a team
2) people not listening to the person set in charge of your fellowship
3) People thinking they know what to do and making mistakes
I was in the army for 5 years and in a war for 2 of them. I know
what happens when you don't work together and you don't plan out
all the details. I have lost some good friends because they thought
they didn't need a plan and it was dumb. I'm still here for one
reason, I plan and I follow the plan.
People we can get this stone. I know we can. All we have to do
is pull together and we can make it work. The Source kicks Ass it
is about time we let Dereth know what we can do when we work together.
After this is all said and done I'm going to post our adventure
on CoD and let them all know The Source is a force to look for.
Come people we can do this. Are you with me or not
BRING IT!!!!!

Farik's MacroBot
6:37pm EST - Farik
Il'Kadar
Here is a test release of
my macro program.
It is not user-friendly. If you make mistakes, the program will
likely not work.
Refer to the Readme.txt file for a detailed description of the
correct format for the script file.
Test.bot is just a text file. Your scripts don't have to end in
.bot, you'll be typing the filename to open it anyway.
The readme file also includes a list of things I want to add to
the program:
- nonreadable keystrokes (Enter, Insert, PageDn, etc)
- graphical script editor
- Windows save/load dialogs
- check for AC to be running before sending keystrokes
If you have any questions or comments, please let me know, either
here or in game.

few rooms. fun. fun. fun.

Tusker Info
9:54pm EST - Ordius
Wow, a serious post from Ordius, who'da thunk it? ;) Anyhow, here's
what's up:
A guy ran a test against about 20 tuskers in the new tusker dungeon
to see if a certain thing saved him some damage. His results:
Doing this thing: He was critical hit about once every 12 hits.
Not doing this thing: He was critical hit about once every 4 hits.
What is 'This thing?'
Something stupid.
Something easy.
Something neglected for so long.
Wearing gauntlets.
Ordius
PS: Translated: Tuskers aim for hands, wear gauntlets and they
won't hit you as hard, as often.

Not every creature should be a master life
mage 9:36pm EST -
Mizu-No
Umm
I like all the new monsters
I like the new AI
but
Life magic was irritating enough in players hands
Why give the monsters the same level of irritating spells?
It took 4 of us to bring down an Umbris today.
Why?
Because it cast drain health other on me 5 times in a row followed
it up with a war spell and went on to draining some one else. This
is not making a tougher creature it is making it irritating NOT
EVERY CREATURE THAT WALKS SHOULD BE A MASTER LIFE MAGE.
And right now they are.
Why not give her a better AI and better armor and more hitpoints
speed her up and have her attack like an LT?
Then you have a Tougher creature that is really hard to kill. WITHOUT
life Magic.
You can make a freaking drudge skulker a monster to fear by giving
him a life magic skill of 110 and Drain health other and an AI that
just cast it all the time.
Very unoriginal
Very disappointing

New Monsters Review, Part I 9:27pm
EST - The
Silent Spearman
Banderling Strikers
These cast Imperil IV, Bludgeon Vuln IV, Slowness IV, Clumsiness
IV, and Shock Wave IV and V. Their melee skills are low, however,
and their HP is managable, except for the fact that they can also
cast Heal Self IV and Drain Health IV. If you want a challenging
Banderling, there you go. XP is about 3,600.
Banderling Berserkers
Very high attack power but no magic. They depend on the Imperil
and Vulns of the Strikers to hurt you, basically, as with my full
buffs at LV 35 they can only it me for about 4-8 a shot. Higher
HP. XP is about 5,100.
Banderling Thrashers
Thrashers No magic that I can see, but they have very high melee
skills and about 400 HP, as well as high defense. They depend on
the help of the Banderling Enforcers to kill you. XP is unknown
since I could only get one to 1/2 health before I ran out of stamina.
Banderling Enforcers
Give me a break...Cold Vuln V, Imperil VI, and Frost Bolt V and
VI. Never even bothered getting close to these, XP unknown.
Altered Drudge
Uses lightning, I haven't seen these yet.
Malus Shreth
Pumped up replacement for Vorous that gives about 4,100XP for your
trouble but is also harder to kill.
Skeleton Bone Knight
LV III Acid Vuln's and Imperils, but VERY high melee skills and
ridiculous defense from the front (where their shield is). I hit
these for 1-3 from the front with my Atlan buffed with LV 4's. Never
killed one..
Skeleton Bone Lord
Lower melee skills but they fire Imperil V, Acid Vuln V like it's
nobody's business. They also have fairly high defense. Never killed
one.
Great Skeleton
I just run. Weakness, Slowness, and Clumsiness VI, along with (I
assume) Imperil VI, Acid Vuln VI, and Acid Bolt VI. These guys are
insane.
Diamond Golem
Supposedly requiring many men to take down, they should have said
many melee's, since I have screenshots of one getting owned by a
LV 38 Mage.. 25-30k XP/kill, probably insane LV 6 Jewelry and high
value gems, possibly diamond scarabs.
Extos Lugians
LV 104 and I still own them. Nothing but Melee here, high defense
but so what? Easy 8k XP for a 35th LV Melee. Loot reeks though,
as far as I can tell.
Does anyone have anything to add?

Underwhelmed 9:26pm
EST - Druss
So far, from what I have read, and seen in screenshots, I am seriously,
seriously underwhelmed.
The spec fix is better than I thought. I will be getting about
10 -15 points added to my spec skills wen I log on. Better than
I thought I would be getting.
The new monsters suck ass.
The new shreth is apparently judst barely higher level thasn a
vorous and not too tough.
The HUGE skeletons - I've seen pictures, they are man sized.
The new monsters seem to be all life magic casting weenies. Bludgeon
Vuln 4 then hit you with a mace or something.
So, they are tough in that they are hard to kill, but in a chessy,
crappy,. life magic way.
just my negative thoughts. :-(
Miko?

Patch Preparation 12:43pm
EST - Druss
As with all patches, I encourage everyone to do nothing dangerous
after the sevrers come back up.
Dying is fine, dying and then getting the message - all servers
will be coming down in 30 seconds, recover your corpse is not fine.
Just because of tradition - I will be loggging out in Yansh tonight.
Much like Mizu - I like
to see alll the new changes from home first.
Like new trees and other things.
Oh, and everyone start sending in what they are specialized in
- and what those currently are at. Because we need to compare notes
tomorrow after the patch.

Wedding Announcment
9:38am EST - Rhodry
Those of you i have found in game already know this, but some
of you do not....
On 6/17 at 4:30 e.s.t. (If the sentinels agree) I (Rhodry)
will be marrying Reiki Anzho, monarch of the Mystic Order
of Blackthorn.
you are all welcome, nay requested to attend, the wedding will
be held on the obsidian span bridge, i will arrange transport from
mayoi.
There will also be a reception afterwards for those of you who
wish to sit and drink and BS, it will be held in a hall/dungeon
1 or 2 clicks from the bridge
if anyone would like to help me organise this (i know movarl
is an excellent caterer :oÞ) give me an @tell and i will be glad
for your help.
also i would ask that no one wears a matty robe to the event,
my bride to be will be wearing one as her wedding dress, and....
well there should be only one.
so if female mages could dress in life/war master robes
or purple armour in the case of one particular female mage (you
know who you are) and male mages should prolly dress in some
sort of armour, or we might mistake you for one of the girls
:o)
i would like to thank you all in advance for your time, and hope
to see as many of you there as possible, both old faces and new
friends.
Yours Happily Rhodry
p.s please excuse the weird formatting to this email i dont know
what came over me :o)
