1) Visit Olivier Rognath (NPC), in the center of Eastham. Talk to him for the initial hint about this quest.

2) The no-drop no-give Banderling Mace Shaft (500 BU, 10p) comes from the Banderling Conquest Dungeon(BCD) west of Sawato (29.0s 50.4e, no level restriction). The description says "Combine with Mace head to make a ceremonial weapon".

To reach Mace Shaft

* Shortly after entering, there is a room with left and right paths.
* Take right-hand path
* Follow downward quite a ways.
* Eventually, reach a doorway where cave walls convert to brick-wall large room.
* There is a Banderling Chief, a few Guards, and a few other Banderlings inside.
* Mace Shaft will be on the floor in the large room(about a 3-minute respawn).
* There is a doorway nearby leading to a surface portal.

To reach "A Battered Leather Journal"

* Shortly after entering, there is a room with left and right paths.
* Take left-hand path
* Follow downward quite a ways.
* Eventually, reach a wooden door.
* Open door, enter the room. Journal is on the floor.
* If you reach the room with the Desk and Banderling Captain, you have gone too far.

3) The no-drop no-give Mace Head comes from the Mosswart Mayhem Maze between Uziz and Al-Arqas (25.3S, 19.4E, no level restriction).

To reach the Mace Head

* As you enter, there is a trifurcation.
* Take the right-hand path.
* Take the fourth branch on the right.
* Bear left at first fork.
* Bear right at immediate next fork.
* Proceed down hall (it should have a 'misty haze' in the air).
* Pass by a left branch - do not take it.
* Go down ramp.
* There will be two Goldenback Tuskers there on a short respawn.
* Mace Head is laying on the floor (about a 3 minute respawn).
* Proceed back up ramp.
* Take first right-hand branch to reach a surface portal.

To reach "A Dry Withered Leather Bound Journal"

* As you enter, there is a trifurcation.
* Take the right-hand path.
* Take the first branch on the right.
* Bear left at rounded fork.
* Take first left.
* At end of hallway is a room with two Barker Mosswarts.
* The Journal will be laying on the floor.
* It is no-give, but it is droppable. (only 10 BU).

4) Combine the Mace Shaft with the Head to form the Ceremonial Banderling Weapon. (1500 BU, no-drop no-give).

5) Give the Ceremonial Weapon to Olivier Rognath and he will return to you the Mace of the Explorer.

6) Optionally, give Olivier the texts, and he will speak some clues.

Olivier Rognath tells you, "Oh my. This is certainly distressing. But tremendously exciting. I almost envy him! To be able to observe them this closely...I, too, have never heard of Banderlings and Mosswarts coming to blows. I shall have to further ponder what this means. And I will have to forward this news on to the Society. If you come across any further word of the whereabouts of Sir Martine, I would be most desperate to learn of it."

Giving Olivier second text

Olivier Rognath tells you, "Well, this explains everything! Well, not everything. But it is a start! I can only surmise that Sir Martine's thoughts on the matter are correct. A Banderling Ceremonial Weapon! I am most amazed. If I could get my hand on such a weapon, it would be an invaluable find! I wonder what is behind all these machinations. Is it possible the Mosswarts are acting on their own? Strange are the wonders of Dereth. And whatever happened to Sir Martine? Maybe there are new clues further west. We can only hope."
