Oh my god is the
FLOOD of memories comeing back to me.
My forays into Darktide
were many and often.
I think Mizu was the first to try it
out, and posted a little bit
about it on the boards. Well, one
day, I was on HG, clearning bandy
hill alone at like level 30 or
something just to work off vitae or
something. Mizu logs on and
wants to hang, and he comes and we kill
stuff on bandy hill very
easily while we chat. Mare is taking a nap,
and we start talking
about Darktide.
I decide that I am going to check it
out, and Mizu is on, and
already leveling over there, so
we both sign onto Darktide. I meet up
with Mizu who is an
Unarmed guy at the time I think, and he outfits
me with abut 5k
and I get some good chain and he buys me a 1000p axe.
I go off
to slay stuff. Right after I pledge to Mizu, the first time
I
have ever pledged to anyone.
I keep playing DT, much to the
disdain and displeasure of my lovely
bride, who really, really,
does NOT want to go over to DT. I like the
rest I get from being
telled all the time, and start to level, but
not super fast. I
finally decide that I need to go to Uziz and get
some scale mail
and a baiga. That tale is detailed here.
Adventures in Darktide 2
I don't remember why, but I stop
playing DT for quite some time after
this. The stress of being
there and possibly killed got to me, and
Mare doesn't like it,
and I'm lucky to have a wife that plays, I
DON'T push my
luck.
So, quite some time goes on before I decide to try DT
again. And I
write this article.
King of Darktide
I start playing on DT more, and Mare joins me.
And oh god does she
get hooked. The article gets a MASS exodus
over to DT, with me, mizu,
joshie, Mutt, Rhodry, Rojon,
Shakuras, and others coming over to DT
to give it a
try.
At this time, Theros the Bear and Mystic Archer were the
Yanshi PK's.
They were level 15 and 12 and they killed a LOT of
us, and harrassed
us day and night. We started getting groups
together again to get
armor, clear bandy hill (oh my god am I SO
going to a new server just
for this reason alone. Ever wish you
were there in the begining? God,
the BEST times of AC were the
begining. And DT was like that. You
move the whole alliance over
and once again, finding a chain hauberk
off the Captain doesn't
make your DAY, it makes your WEEK!!! The
whole allaince is
adventuring together, trying to get big, sharing
out ARMOR ONE
RINGS!!! woot!!! Its the newness that makes a new
server so
appealing.)
So a couple days go by, with the Source Leveling
like the Source
does. I mean LEVELING. I negotiated a truce with
Theros for two days
of no one attacks each other (this is when
we were like level 5 or
somrething. Why he would agree to this,
I have no idea.)
So we are on Banderling hill, and we are
leveling, and Theros comes
along and starts stealing kills from
us,a nd chatting, and being as
o.k. as theros gets, but not
cool.
TSS was less cool headed than he was these days, and
draws a line in
the dirt and challenges Theros the bewar to a
duel, with loot, right
there. Growling and glowering the whole
time he does it.
Despite the fact that Theros was 15 at the
time, and TSS was 8, TSS
was TL template which is insanely
powerful at early levels. Silent
already had more strength, mor
hit points, more endurance, and was
ITCHING FOR THEROS
BLOOD.
I literally had to hold Silent back from just
attacking him duel or
no duel, we had a truce.
You could
see Theros deep in thought over all of this as he examined
Silent and thought to himself.
1. They have 8 guys
here.
2. They were level one 2 days ago, they are now an
average of seven.
3. I haven't leveled since christ was
lecturing. (silent's line, not
mine, but god I love
it)
4. That guy who wants to eat my entrails is going to be
MUCH bigger
than me in just a few days. He's already stronger
and better built.
5. I have one friend over here, and we're
both morons. These guys
seem to be a tighht nit, well put
together group.
Theros says "um.. Banderlings are good
experience huh?"
Frikkin right meat. In two days you're going
to be the one running
from every single one of us.
This
goes on for about a week, with us getting kills on Mystic Archer
numorous times,but never getting the kill on Theros until almost

weeks later when Silent kills him AND makes a friend shurov
who
theros was traveling with. The crowd cheers.

The Death of Theros the Bear
Shortly after this, I don't know why, but many
people lost interest
in DT.
Soon, I start to get sick of
not having item on HG, and mare keeps
pushing me to try DT
again. She keeps playing over there, and I play
with her
sometimes, but I prefer HG still.
I make up 3 different guys,
but never delete Druss. (Druss was made
in about April
remember.)
I make up a mage, but get sick of that, and make
up a swordsman named
Gilgaslan, but he sucks too, and I get rid
of him since I miss Axe. I
then make up an X-bow guy, and he is
cool against monsters, but
sucked in PVP.
Well, lets
clarify that.
X-Bow is amazing for PK because you can enter
town, and shoot anyone
you see and one shot them. Its horrible
for Anti because someone
attacks you, you pull out xbow, they
dodge you easier than war magic,
beat you down, you
die.
I level him up to level 8 and LOVE HIM until I get
killed a few too
many times for my liking by lower level pks who
know how to strafe
and run.
Meanwhile, mare is leveling
up the same Sister C, and I keep falling
more and more behind
her with each template I try.
I finally go back to being
Druss and just stick with the guy I made
two months ago. He's
not perfect, but he had all the things I thought
were important,
like 100, 100, 100 and he had missle (which we still
were
arguing about wether it was good or not) and he didn't have
cooking or thrown weapons, so how bad could he
be?

About the time that Mare and I came back
over full time, Silent was
now big, Chinook was big, Suyan the
hand was a GOD in my mind because
he was so fast and killed Bob
Dole or something. I don't remember. I
just remember thinking
about how good Suyan the hand was.
Others started to come
back in a slow trickle, and now, we are where
we are
now.
Something I did not mention in all of this is how much
of an
influence Silent was in my coming back. His stories and
attitude
about DT are waht drew me here, and is a man wise far
beyond his
years in many of his actions. His no trash talk
policy is what gets
us the respect we have earned over here, and
I never would have had
the tempermant to do
that.
